« Nairucu Arts » is a non-profit Association presently being created in Nampula, Mozambique.
The Nairucu Arts Centre will provide opportunities for new developments to occur for an art that, due to current economic contingencies, is in peril of losing its soul and its best talents.
The project for the creation of this association aims at building an Art School and a Handcraft Centre for the development of Maconde Art.
The Nairucu Arts Centre will provide a proper environment and supervision to facilitate the revelation of young talents and the production of creative objects that will be sold regionally and internationally as the case may be, to sustain the long term development activities of the Nairucu Arts Centre. The persons selected to work and study at the Nairucu Arts Centre will be provided with a meal and a modest fellowship contract to allow them to exploit fully their creativity for a period of 3 years renewable for a maximum of another 2 years.
